The Reward //
As we were walking through the flatlands and fields of a least reached district, Jesus whispered so clearly to my heart, "there is gold in these fields. Today I am going to receive My reward." These words brought a wave of faith and endurance to my heart as the ground of the last village was hard with an atmosphere that was dark and oppressive.
As we continued to walk through fields, we came across a group of workers. It became the opportune time to sit down, talk, and share with them. For the first time this community of people heard the very message that all of creation groans for - a story of redemption and hope. Six in the field said yes to Jesus and a fellowship was planted!
"For I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope. That the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God." (Romans 8:18-21)
This is one of the many stories I have of people responding to Jesus for the first time. More than ever I see and understand what Jesus spoke 2000 years ago when He commanded his disciples to pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send forth His laborers because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
